General Summary:

The Director of Communications within the Office of Mission Advancement is responsible for the implementation of a comprehensive external communications program in support of the mission, charism, and ministries of the Felician Sisters of North America.

The Director of Communications will be responsible for the creation and implementation of a broad range of communications materials and activities in support of the goals of the Executive Director of the Office of Mission Advancement, to shape and enhance awareness and visibility of the Felician Sisters of North America as well as to promote, advance, and foster greater understanding of the Felician Sisters of North America’s mission, ministries, and way of life.

Our Provincial administration building for our North American operations is located approximately 20 minutes from Cranberry Township.

Key Responsibilities:

Implement the branding and identity program in all external and internal communication vehicles and maintain the integrity of the brand within all communications initiatives.
Create, write, and produce the content and direct the design for all external communications vehicles across multiple media genres, inclusive of all print and digital content.
Write, design, and oversee production of The Felician —the flagship publication of the Felician Sisters of North America—for twice yearly publication.
Direct and manage freelance photographers and graphic designers.
Create content, manage content management system (CMS), and direct design features/redesigns of the Felician Sisters of North America website as well as monitor usage trends, web analytics, and effectiveness of the site.
Serve as the North American spokesperson for the Felician Sisters.
Develop and implement proactive national, regional and local media relations programs, placing stories in print, broadcast, and digital media outlets.
Design a social media strategy and oversee implementation across varied platforms;
Create ads in regional and national publications and event program books.
Create and implement a variety of vocation communications materials (including ads, print materials, web pages, promotional materials, vocation conference banners, etc.), working with the Felician Sisters of North America Vocation Team in order to foster awareness and interest in the Felician way of life.
Assist in implementing the Felician Sisters special event program throughout the Province as created and directed by the Executive Director, Office of Mission Advancement.
Travel as necessary throughout the Province for interviews and article preparation.
Manage an annual communications budget.

Experience, Skills and Abilities:

Exceptional writer able to write engaging materials across a spectrum of media genres.
Proven success in developing creative print and web-based materials.
Excellent presentation skills, able to communicate to a variety of constituencies.
Proven track record in successful national and regional media placement.
Keen understanding of best practices in creating and maintaining social media communications across a variety of platforms, including Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram.
Experience in updating website content through Content Management Systems (CMS);
Strong proofreading and editing skills.
Highly skilled in developing creative, compelling messaging and materials.
Communications/public relations experience with a religious community or diocesan office preferable.
Self-motivated individual.
Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Experience and Education:

Bachelor’s degree required in Communications, English, Public Relations or related field.
Minimum of 10-12 years of experience in communications/public relations, preferably with a religious community, diocesan office, or non-profit organization.
