Background

WXPN, the non-commercial radio station of the University of Pennsylvania, is looking for a Director of Individual Gifts.

Job Summary

The Director of Individual Gifts is responsible for setting goals and strategy for WXPN Membership, working in collaboration with the University’s central Development and Alumni Relations division to ensure that all fundraising activity follows established principles and protocol set forth by central DAR.

Reports To

WXPN Associate General Manager

Responsibilities

Following fundraising trends and new opportunities, s/he will analyze, recommend and implement new fundraising initiatives for growth. Oversee all fund raising programs targeting existing XPN donors, including retention, cultivation, stewardship, and realizing increased giving levels. Create and implement programs to renew members, with a major focus on sustained giving. Supervise all individual giving staff, including the Associate Major Gifts Director and all activities related to major giving and grants. Solicit major gifts. Define critical benchmarks for department. Analyze results to make decisions for investment in future growth. Achieve new member fund raising goals.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree and 5-7 years of marketing/ fundraising experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, are required. At least 3 years of supervisory experience required. Experience in and knowledge of sustained giving programs, direct mail, CRM/database management, and customer service preferred. Requires strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate various complex projects at the same time. Must be excellent communicator, creative, resourceful and flexible. Public broadcasting experience and familiarity with WXPN programming helpful.

Position requires some evening/ weekend work and travel.

Valid driver’s license is required.
