Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY: WC&S is a comprehensive domestic violence program annually serving over 5,000 adult and child survivors of domestic violence & facilitating intervention groups to over 300 men who batter. All staff learn about and support the organization’s mission, guiding principles, and values, as well as the tenets of Women’s Center Business System (WCBS), and are sensitive to cultural and workplace harmony and infusing principles of Sanctuary (a model for providing trauma-informed care) into their daily interactions with clients and co-workers.

SUMMARY: Manages the Legal Advocacy Program

REPORTS TO: Chief Legal Officer


Oversees the daily operation of the Legal Advocacy Program
Provides supervision, case management, evaluation, training, professional development, and support to the staff of the Legal Advocacy Program
Meets regularly with the staff of the Legal Advocacy Program to review, receive and prioritize tasks and discuss issues/problems related to legal advocacy
Assures that Justice, Restoration, Autonomy and Safety (JARS) is utilized in all case management activities
Provides back-up to positions supervised through which all direct services to victims are provided, including but not limited to: criminal and civil advocacy accompaniment and assistance; emotional support, crisis intervention, and safety services; personal advocacy; information and referral; and procedural services
Monitors the data collection of and assists in the grants administration (applications, reports, monitoring) for the Legal Advocacy Program
Ensures timely and accurate submission of client and other service data for area of supervision
Participates in recommending hiring and firing of staff in area of responsibility
Works with the Chief Legal Officer to design, implement, and maintain the legal advocacy programs
Meets regularly with the Chief Legal Officer to review, receive and prioritize tasks, issues, and problems of the legal advocacy program
Performs administrative functions for the legal advocacy program and submits in a timely manner all personnel, financial, computer system and facility forms
Represents the Agency to the public including performing speaking engagements and training
Works with community systems to promote change
Participates in agency management team and serves as a leader to connect the Legal Advocacy Program with the rest of the WC&S agency
Works as part of an interdisciplinary agency team to develop and maintain responsive, relevant and culturally appropriate services to WC&S clients
Attends training on a regular basis as required by grants and recommended by the WC&S management team
Builds a cohesive, professional, and quality Legal Advocacy Program team
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.


Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or equivalent, Master’s degree preferred
At least five years experience with crisis management
2 – 3 years previous supervisory experience, preferred
Extremely strong administrative and organizational skills required
Sensitive to domestic violence and cultural diversity issues
Effective oral and written communications skills
Ability to work independently and as a team member
Ability to work on grant administration
Understanding of the justice system a plus
Ability to multi-task and adapt to change
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Windows, Outlook, Word and Excel
Act 33/34 and FBI clearances

Salary: Grade D, Mid $50,000’s, Exempt Status
